. A discourse among orthognathic surgeons might define her cephalometric deficiency and recommend a sagittal split or other procedure, but at 20 times the cost of a chin augmentation and some chance of recession, a chin implant was a good alternative. Insurance denies cases of this type. A patient should not be the object of an art form we seek, but just be happy. We also use polyethylene (Porex) and not silicone as material of choice. The outcome albeit, is subtle.

If I was going in for a “chin” implant, I would also have them shore up the weak jaw line to even out the effect. Nothing extreme, but you may as well do both while its happening.

I love it. The results are natural looking, not something you would stare at. If her chin was brought forward any more it would have given her a prognathic bite; like a “bull dog” look. You did a great job and she has a very feminine look!

i can tell the difference..she went from ‘woman with the chin’ to just a normal looking woman who has a slightly recessive? if that’s the right word chin that you wouldn’t really notice

If you draw a straight vertical line just behind the nostril in the soft tissue down through the chin, you will see it was brought forward at least 5-7 mm. For very curved faces and short chins in cases like this, although short of geometric perfection, more augmentation will masculinize the face.

lol Looking at the before and after pictures…When it fades from one to the other, I could only see the hair and clothes changing. DIdn’t look different. The main reason he looked so young afterward was because he shaved.
